Simon, Julius
(1875-1969)
   Zionist leader, of German origin. He was born in Switzerland and lived in Alsace during World War I. Later he was invited by Chaim Weizmann to direct the economic activities of the Zionist Organization. In 1920 he was sent to Palestine to reorganize the Zionist Organization, but his report was not accepted by the Zionist Congress and he resigned from the organization. Between the wars Simon lived in Palestine and the US, and headed the Palestine Economic Corporation.
